AUSTRALIA JOURNAL: MELBOURNE

Melbourne is my favorite city in Australia. While we were visiting, the city was arriving late to the summer temperatures and it was quite colder than I was used to for the past year. Melbourne actually has closer to all four seasons of weather which also made me feel a little bit more at home.

We landed in Melbourne from Sydney on a quick one hour flight. We explored around the city after checking into our apartment. We also had to go shopping for pants because I hadn’t brought any with me! I found some great last minute ones from Jay Jay’s.

Happy Australia Day! While most of my friends in Australia were celebrating a little differently, my family and I had an all day tour that ended with watching penguins on Phillips Island come in from the ocean and find their families for the night. We booked a Go West tours through flight centre (my second go west tour and I would highly recommend them, free wifi on the bus) that picked us up from our apartment around 11 am and included a bush walk, a winery tour, a stop at a koala conservation, lunch, penguins during the day, dinner, some beautiful views and finally a little stop at the beach to see the penguins come home.
In Melbourne we stayed in the Adina Apt Hotel North bank. Melbourne has a free tram that travels in a square around the outside of the city, but it is also a very pedestrian friendly city, so you can walk to most places.

From Sydney to Melbourne we flew Jetstar.
Our entire trip was planned with the help of Flight Centre Australia.
